Form of Separation
The principal reason for separating an assembly is to facilitate access to a part of the assembly whilst other parts may remain energised and in service. Whilst, in general, separation does not improve the electrical performance of the assembly it does provide:
- Protection against contact with live parts belonging to the adjacent functional units,
- Protection against the passage of solid foreign bodies from one unit of an assembly to an adjacent unit.
Cable Entry and Access
A panel used in an application of any complexity will have numerous cables and/or a busway requiring access.
Cable entry points for an enclosure must be designed carefully, consideration of the final panel location should be considered, such as; internal or external, ease of future access for maintenance. An incorrect cable entry selection or unsuitable installation for the application can degrade the IP rating for the whole panel.

System Ingress Protection
APD’s standard LV Switchboard/Distribution Boards/MCC system steelwork has an ingress protection (IP) rating of up to IP54;
- Protected from limited dust ingress.
- Protected from water spray from any direction.

- No ingress of dust.

Our Softstarter and Inverter Panel ranges are manufactured with our clients' safety being our highest priority. Our Design team ensure we fully comply with your specification and expectations to aid in the final install.
Each Softstarter and Inverter Panel can be panel mounted or chassis mounted (if installing within existing systems). Often these modules are retrofitted to replace existing Direct On Line (DOL) or Star-Delta starters.
