Form of Separation

The principal reason for separating an assembly is to facilitate access to a part of the assembly whilst other parts may remain energised and in service. Whilst, in general, separation does not improve the electrical performance of the assembly it does provide:

• Protection against contact with live parts belonging to the adjacent functional units,
• Protection against the passage of solid foreign bodies from one unit of an assembly to an adjacent unit.

Cable Entry and Access

A panel used in an application of any complexity will have numerous cables and/or a busway requiring access.

Cable entry points for an enclosure must be designed carefully, consideration of the final panel location should be considered, such as; internal or external, ease of future access for maintenance. An incorrect cable entry selection or unsuitable installation for the application can degrade the IP rating for the whole panel.

Metering and Monitoring

As systems continue to become more efficient, demand to monitor power and energy also increases.

Multifunction power meters are able to provide accurate data in real time for energy managers, engineers and clients.

Depending on your application will vary the type and ability of your meter.

Up to 6300Amp Busbars

Busbars are used for electrical power distribution.  APD primarily use copper busbars (rigid and flexible), up to 6300Amps.

• Busbar Ratings – Up to 6300Amps.
• Neutral Bar – Double, Equal or Half Rated.
• Busbar Coatings – Tinned/Insulated or both.

Fault Rating up to 120kA/1 second

APD’s LV Switchboards, MCCs and Distribution Boards are designed with a fault rating, or fault tolerance capacity, of up to 120kA/1 second, meaning the panel and its components can, (without risk to personnel or equipment), operate or be operated up to that fault level and remain in service albeit in some cases at a reduced load level.

• Fault Rating – Up to 120kA/1 second.

System Ingress Protection

APD’s standard LV Switchboard/Distribution Boards/MCC system steelwork has an ingress protection (IP) rating of up to IP54;

• Protected from limited dust ingress.
• Protected from water spray from any direction.

Bespoke Steelwork Ingress Protection – Up to IP65/66

• No ingress of dust.
• Protected from powerful water jets from any direction.

Fixed, Plugin or Withdrawal Devices

APD are able to provide various fitment methods and product features to assist with maintenance and servicing.

Working with all the major suppliers, we are able to provide and source a large array of components to suit most requirements.

Finish

APD’s standard paint finish is a powder coat, light grey (RAL 7035). Other colours are available on request.

Surge Suppression

All electronic equipment can be severely affected by surges or transient over-voltages.
